""Gone With the Wind," authored by Margaret Mitchell and published in 1936, is recognized as The Great American Novel, earning widespread acclaim. Intrigued by its reputation, I delved into the narrative, which revolves around Scarlett…

I read this book just over a year ago and I forget some of the things that happened but I know it was a good one. I remember the main character Scarlett O'Hara as well as her boyfriends/husbands Ashley and Rhett. Btw I thought Ashley was a…

I think st. Marys Library should buy a copy of the actual book of "gone with the wind", as it is a gold-plated classic, much more enjoyable and detailed than the film, I think!

I read this book and loved it so much, I watched the movie as well. The book has so much more than the movie. Be logical & keep in mind it was wrote in 1936, not this year, and you will enjoy it. Going to read it again. So happy to have…

This is such a fantastic story, full of drama and visuals. I watched the movie long ago and read the book more recently. So good, just as I had remembered it in more detail. The complaint about it is how black people are referred to;…

I read this book for the 52 books in 52 weeks reading challenge. I used the 2021 reading prompt read an author with only one published book. It is also on Listopia's 300 books everyone should read once list. This is the second time in my…

A sweeping epic that does not disappoint! By the end, the reader may be as exhausted as Scarlett O'Hara given the tumultuous road she's been on, the highs and lows which she has achieved and endured. The perspective of the Civil War from…

A timeless classic, Gone With the Wind explores the American South during the Civil War, telling the story of Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler. Spanning from the time before the war to after, Gone With the Wind mixes in romance and war…

(Spoiler Warning) Gone With the Wind is one of the first classics I have read, and I immensely enjoyed it. The main character Scarlett O'Hara (and later Mrs. Hamilton, Kennedy, and Butler), is full of flaws, and more of those flaws show as…

Margaret Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind" has two major characters: Scarlett O'Hara and the American South. Scarlett was a feminist almost before "feminism" was a word. She was pretty and intelligent and every boy in the county wanted her…

The best book ever written. Sadly, Margaret Mitchell never completed another work.

If you think slavery, racism, traitors, the myth of the lost cause, and the non-existent gallant South are romantic, than this is the book for you. Made into a ridiculously popular (and long) movie. Racist AF.

Gone with the Wind By Margaret Mitchell Here's the thing. I am not a huge classic reader and if it hadn't been for the long period of time where the library was not open, I wouldn't have read this. But as I did, I found myself…

I came back to this book after hearing that HBO plans to remove the film from its line-up and reading an editorial in AlterNet in which the racist elements of the book are given as a reason to throw it out. To me this seems dangerously…

I know that this is a classic, and I get that it's probably a good window into what the south was like at this time, but I just could not get past the constant casual racism intrinsic in the book.

"Tomorrow is another day." "My dear, I don't give a d---." "As God is my witness, I'll never go hungry again!" There are so many iconic lines in this book, that I half felt I'd already read it before I finally did this year. The tale of a…

This sweeping saga of the American Civil War as experienced by Southern belle Scarlet O'Hara is a classic for good reason. At times it was a difficult read, as it's clear that author Margaret Mitchell was privy to a particular narrative…

The American Civil War was a pretty dreadful time to live. This classical literature book (very thick and full of content) shows the horrors of living through this time, through the eyes of Scarlett O'Hara. Throughout the book, her…
