The science fiction aspects of this movie get all the attention, which is too bad because the film is actually a harrowing portrayal of a man who finds himself reduced to the status of a despised underclass in a society where anyone he…

I remember seeing it at the theater and enjoying it. It was totally set-up for a sequel which never happened. Guess it didn't make bank but its not too late. Make the sequel!

At first I thought, a lot of it were illogical, then I noticed a lots of subtle racism. It's a high budget movie with wonderful costume and set design, but with a dumbdown plot that rely on needless aggression.
The Charles Heston's…

There are a coule phenomenal lines in this movie. The main problem is the movie takes an hour to get going and then it ends. I recommend watching the Mark Wahlberg Planet of the apes or Rise of the planet of the apes.

The original scifi thriller is still compelling, even if some of it is a little dated.

By its appeal to both the imagination and the intellect within a context of action and elemental adventure, in its relevance to the consuming issues of its time...Planet of the Apes is that rare film which will transcend all age and social…

This is the second time I have watched this and I still found it good. The ending leaves me wondering if the astronaut should have stayed on the planet and not try to get back home. The monkeys on the planet they landed on where actually…
This original version of the movie is from 1968 and shows the complex issues that arise when apes develop heightened mental ability and begin to take over the world. After astronauts find themselves on a new planet where apes are in charge…

Even Charlton Heston couldn't sink this'n, ( I love to bash him) with a script by Rod Serling and just nimble enough direction from Franklin Schaffer. Heston had worked with him in The War Lord, which also had Maurice (Dr. Zaius) Evans.…

This was a very good move we enjoyed it as much as the 1st one. After watching the show we viewed the added DVD that showed how the movie was made and that was terrific. Learned a lot and appreciate all the work that went into the movies…

When this movie came out I avoided it because I could not imagine myself watching a movie where chimps were running the world. This evening we watched and found it to be entertaining. Look forward to watching the next two.

Definitely a genre defining movie...almost fifty years old, and still holds up well...makeup was breath-taking in its time, but looks just a little off by today's standards. What makes this such a great movie is the acting, the script, and…

A bad movie that doesn't capture Tim Burton's sense of cinematography. The original one is way better!

It is because the cover and record information you see is for the original movie and the actual blue-Ray disc that you receive. Which sucks as I have seen the original many times. I was looking forward to seeing the new version and how…

Not sure why so many of the comments here are actually for the much better 1968 Charlton Heston movie. This version could have been a better movie than it turned out, I was highly disappointed. The movie almost ended on a high point and…
This original film is much better than the 2001 film. This film has emotional impact. While Heston's drama goes over-the-top, Wahlberg's drama is underwhelming. Having the humans mute makes (as in the original) makes more sense.

I liked the original film better. The apes had better lines (and better acting) than the humans. Making humans mute made more sense. The original had more emotional impact. The ending of this film made no sense at all.

This movie is amazing, classic sci-fi. It has a thoughtful script, great actors, and strikingly beautiful cinematography. Anyone who thinks it is "cheezy" doesn't understand how to appreciate classic film -- it has to be enjoyed in the…
