Everett brings his fiancé Meredith home to meet his family for the Christmas holiday. It's an instant disaster when Everett's parents, Sybil and Kelly, agree with their gay, deaf son Thad, pot-smoking son Ben and daughters Amy and Susannah that Meredith is way too uptight to be welcomed into their family. Wanting to please Everett and get along with his family, Meredith recruits her sister Julie to help her thaw the Stone family cold front.

Typical Christmas family drama. Family members are sarcastic to one another, brothers switch girlfriends, two sister switch boyfriends. This movie is worth 2 stars, or maybe not!

Sweet Christmas rom/com. I watch it every Christmas season.

A true telling of how mean and loving a family can be all at one time. Have some wine and tissues. You will need both.

Once you get past the mean-spirited family hazing that Sarah Jessica Parker (Sybil) faces down as she heads home with her fiance to meet his parents and siblings over the holidays, this becomes a better movie with genuinely funny moments. In the wind up to Christmas, vulnerabilities are revealed and vulgarities forgiven—Diane Keaton is the mom hiding a secret and two dramatically different brothers (tie-wearing Wall Streeter against stoner dude) are confronted with an unexpected choice. There is a nicely unassuming integration of a gay couple and their desire to adopt; for a sister, an ambulance proves an unexpected place to re-ignite an old romance. Scenic wintry locale shoots in historic Northeastern towns and a rambling, cozy old house add to the Christmas spirit.

This dramatic romance movie stars Will Smith, Helen Mirren, Keira Knightley, Kate Winslet, Edward Norton, and many more, giving the movie a very impressive cast. This movie is about a very successful advertising executive who has recently felt a great loss in his life, and begins to retreat until he decides to write to Love, Time, and Death. As he writes, he learns more about others and begins to realize that things aren’t as grim as they seem. Although this movie had a pretty serious storyline, things felt too loose at times and the actors all seemed to lack critical chemistry. What could have been a great movie was ruined by rushed scenes and a lack of care by the director. I would rate this movie 2/5 stars. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Started this on the plane and didn't get to finish so had to borrow. A nice family movie showing family dynamics. I can see why people make this an annual watch.

One of my favourite films about family and relationships. I have to watch it every Christmas - with a glass of eggnog and a box of tissues.
