Taras Grescoe traveled to the sources of the seafood sold in our markets, interviewing shrimp farmers, scientists, fishermen and chefs worldwide. He describes a scene of ecological devastation and massively depleted fish stocks. A seafood lover, he also describes in succulent detail many of the meals he enjoyed and the decision-making involved in his choices. Alarming, cautiously optimistic and compulsively readable, this book offers practical advice on choosing seafood that is healthy for you and for the world's fisheries and oceans.

A very interesting book which tells the truth about how the fishing industry has been exploited all over the world. I learned a lot from reading this and strongly recommend it to everyone

An excellent and anecodtal overview of the fishing industry worldwide in various regions and species. I don't even eat fish but I found it an interesting read. There's so much most of us don't know about this industry..

I was prepared to dislike this because the author, with all the imbalance he reveals, still eats fish. But that is the only thing wrong with this book. It is really well written, excellent research including new popular science reports. He might not be as committed to the solutions as I like, but it was worth the read on so many levels. Well worth waiting for.
