Very, very long movie. I fast forwarded through most of it and only watched the parts with Audrey Hepburn.

Mildly entertaining but not consistently interesting for such a long movie. Most of it is a soap opera about the three characters played by Audrey Hepburn, Mel Ferrer and Henry Fonda so the war scenes take up a small portion of the movie. (In response to the previous commentator - I did not see Leslie Caron anywhere in the film.)

I have always heard mixed reviews for "War and Peace". So I have not taken out of the library until recently. To my surprise, I found myself fascinated with the story. The scenes of the French fighting the Russians is remarkably real. The famous director King Vidor was in charge of this large cast. Leslie Caron never looked more beautiful. Henry Fonda has been said to be miscast. I don't know about you, but I want to watch all of Henry Fonda movies. He puts in a wonderful performance as Leslie Caron trusted friend. I recommend the film as a record of Russian and French history and a great story by the author Leo Tolstoy!

Super long movie. It is as long as the book.

It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained and interesting. But it was NOT worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box. "I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.”

I didn't- and still don't- know much about Russia, but the story makes a human connection with the viewers by showing just how Napoleon ruined their lives.
