This is a very good film. Something not often mentioned in existing synopses is that the film spends a good deal of time examining how food is marketed to children, also providing some sobering examples of young people who are having a hard time managing their diets as well as the lengths they go to in the quest for satisfaction in both appetite and social interaction. It's difficult to sit through, but probably a good idea.

Powerful. One of the most interesting things for me was how Prohibition came about. Corn overproduction pushed corporations to make whiskey with it and foist it off on the public creating horrendous social problems of alcoholism/other health problems. (I had thought it was religious interference, but Temperance was in response to this health crisis.) The modern parallel is subsidized corn corp. producing tons of excess corn which then goes into EVERYTHING - coffee, wine, meat (McDonald's burgers), etc. so we are consuming unprecedented amounts of sugar (primarily corn, but not exclusively) wreaking havoc on our bodies. The poor bearing the greatest cost of this health epidemic.
