I liked this book. This book would be better if it had Spider-Man in it too.
Just before the title page of this hilarious book, two boys are shown scrambling in a toy box for their favourite playthings. One pulls out a shark, the other chooses a train, and the contest is on: which of the two toys will win in a head-to-head competition? Of course, the answer depends on the type of competition (Shark aces the high-dive, but Train has the upper hand...er, smokestack...in roasting marshmallows) and the terrain on which it's held (Train doesn't function so well in the ocean). Bubbling over with bravado and wacky, over-the-top scenarios, Shark vs. Train will delight fans of funny, action-packed reads such as Mini Grey's Traction Man Meets Turbo Dog or Lisa Wheeler's Dino-Hockey.

What starts as two boys’ simple search through a toy box spirals into the possibilities of pitting these very different opponents against each other and predicting what might happen. Now I know what you are thinking: there are a million differences between a shark and a train, and that is part of the fun. This book is the extreme equivalent of comparing apples to oranges.

My boys love this book! I love the details in their comments and the cool "fights". Really enjoyable for both my 4 and 8 year old boys.
Ultimate boys picture book full of testosterone. Fun read that our boys just loved to bits.
This is an awesome story of a series of battles between a shark and a train. Who can stay underwater longer? Who is fastest on land? Who can hide in a bedroom better? On, and on, and on. And sillier and sillier and sillier.
The boy in your life will love this book, and you, the adult, will laugh at the sheer ridiculousness of the situations. Worth re-reading too as you appreciate what is really going on now that you know the ending. Go get this.
An ingenious and original childrens book with beautiful illustrations.
A very funny book with lots of great messages for kids. The shark rocks.
