Confession: I only watched the first 25 minutes or so of the 2-hour Arizona Dream -- that was all my raw, exposed nerves could take of this vulgar, potty-mouthed fiasco that appears hell-bent on giving quirkiness a bad name. I can understand why this movie BOMBED in the early '90s and why it became a cult failure. It's horrid, yet just dreamy enough not to dismiss. The opening prologue of the Alaskans stands out as extraordinary. The early scenes of Depp with the fish, yes. However, from the minute Jerry Lewis enters the picture, the hypnotic bubble bursts. He's so awful. Faye Dunaway looks good, and it's nice to see Lili Taylor play a strong character for once, but most of this "Dream" is such a nightmare I couldn't wait to bail!!!!!!!

"My dad always said that work was like a hat you put on your head. And even if you didn't have pants , you didn't have to walk down the street ashamed of your ass as long as you had a hat..."

Highly recommended if you like strange movies, it's certainly not perfect and feels a bit overlong, but it has some memorable scenes and quotes like the one above.
