In 1943, from a windowless basement office in London, two brilliant intelligence officers conceived a plan that was both simple and complicated-- Operation Mincemeat. The purpose? To deceive the Nazis into thinking that Allied forces were planning to attack southern Europe by way of Greece or Sardinia, rather than Sicily, as the Nazis had assumed, and the Allies ultimately chose.

The narrator was British, spoke very fast with a lot of hard-d-sounds, and sounded like hammering from a nail gun. I could not listen to more than one disc. By that time I had a headache. The story itself is very interesting, but the narrator spoiled it for me.

Pukka narration of a thrilling, farcical story. A film was made in the 1950s, but sadly, not with Alec Guinness as Cholomondeley, or Dennis Price as Montagu.

An excellent history and in-depth analysis of the impact of this daring caper.

I think this book might be difficult to follow without prior familiarity with the operation. I suggest first reading 'The Man Who Never Was'--OPL has a copy--for an introduction to the subject.
