Add a CommentDaniel O’Thunder was a rollicking good read full of suspense, humour, and history. It’s 1851 in London, England and an evil force is stalking the city and preying on its more vulnerable inhabitants. Enter former boxer and recently devout Daniel O’Thunder and his band of merry followers as he challenges Satan himself to a match. The battle of good versus evil enters our backyard when the characters make their way to Barkerville, British Columbia. With vivid imagery and fantastic wit, Weir has crafted a fantastic story. Great read for fans of historical fiction. Quite dark, but that should be a given considering that it is set in Victorian London.Told from many points of view, and some are more objective than others lending a pleasing subtlety to the story.
I couln't get into this novel. I don't know if it was the era of the setting or the way that the author chose to portray the characters and align his chapters.
