This is not one of Coben's best but then again, it was only his second novel. There are too many instances in the plot where he takes the easy way out and things "just happen" the way the plot needs them to happen

Not one of Harlan's best. -But his later 'stand alone' novels are a huge improvement

This novel was written very early in Coben's career as a novelist and it shows. His "Note from the author" explains why I thought this novel was so different from what I had come to expect of his writing. The writing in this novel is hohum, preachy, and cliche filled. As Coben says in his note, try another of his novels.
