Very interesting storyline combined with an unknown piece of history!

Victoria is a foster child with a chip on her shoulder. That part of this story is believable. After years of being shuffled from home to home, one would be leery of others and have a chip on the shoulder.
Beyond that, nothing else about this book hangs together.
Victoria is portrayed as too nasty, too angry, too self-centered, too alone......she's just "too". There's no reason for the multitude of people who stand by her and help her to do so. She gives them no reason to stand by her....and yet they do, with no return from her.
Coincidences and "being in the right place at the right time" are what holds the rest of the book together and it doesn't do that very well.
All in all, too unbelievable, too pat and too sweet.

This was a great listen. The story builds on the characters communication with flowers the characters had so much difficulty with attachment and relationship yet found their way with flowers instead of words I am looking forward Deifenbaugh's next story

Well written story of Victoria, a young woman struggling with the present after years of life in child protection/foster care. Strong family characters woven together by the love and hidden meanings of flowers.of flowers
