I have always enjoyed the books of Susan Isaacs, but this has been a surprising and disappointing exception. I cannot say that I detected a plot, but all the characters spent the entire book minging about their unhappy teenage years or unhappy childhoods - decades in the past by. Noone had a happy adolescence! Get over it! And stop making me read about it over and over and over again!

I did find fascinating the back cover photo of the author, who appears as a rosy, plump cheeked lady in her 30. Isaacs is, in fact, about to turn 70.

Susan Issacs' previous books were fun reads. Not this one. It was pretentious, boring, predictable, and no fun at all.
