.5 stars: I love a good mystery. This, however, was rot. The writing. Elysia Woods (sp?) acting. (I actually was embarrassed for him ... that acting was like he was reading que cards. Poor guy.) And the direction. It was like watching a pretend movie ... I was very aware that this was being acted.
Also, liking or not liking this movie has nothing to do with "being a math person" ... I understood all the math and other theories/hypothesis presented in this movie. It just wasn't a good movie. Please don't waste your valuable time on this movie. Waste your valuable time on a good movie! :)

Is somebody joking!?!
Supposed Psychological Thriller is really just a bunch of demented BS, with (once again; thank you Hollywood) completely unrealistic responses from ALL the characters. ("What planet are we on now Mr Peters?") Makes "Children of the Corn" look like an everyday neighborhood in the heart of America. : P
Please, do not waste your time.

I like John Hurt very much, but even he couldn't act this boring fest! Elijah Wood with his constantly startled look, goes sometimes into "more startled," if possible. We tried very hard, but couldn't watch more than 30 minutes.

A good murder mystery based on a mathematical twist.

This one was not for me. If I had a mathematical mind maybe I could have become involved, but I found it wordy and incomprehensible. I thought Anna Massey was a caricature not a believable person. I stayed with it until she was murdered and then when I realized I'd no idea what John hurt was talking about, I decided to go onto other things.

The Oxford Murders is a complex murder mystery with logic and mathematics playing a pivotal role in the storyline. An American student arrives at Oxford hoping to study and be mentored by a legendary professor of logic. The student's host is murdered in what appears to be the first in a pattern of serial killings. The student and professor decide to work together to determine who may be murdered next. There are plenty of suspects as well as a surprise ending.

A pretty good murder mystry film. It starts out a bit slowly and could have done without the sex sceens with Wood and his lover; however, as the film progresses and really gets into the mystery it becomes better and better. The twists and truns, especially towards the end of the film are good ones. Also, the evolution of Wood's character as he discovers more and more about his idol, the professor, is well done.

Paralyzingly boring. Elijah Wood lives up to his name. He's a block of wood in this movie. I agree that it was pretentious and silly. I only watched the first half then stopped the DVD. Waste of time.

A stunningly intellectual thriller where the plot twists & turns. A mystery I thought was well-written and put together. Great movie that keeps you guessing.
