The author had a really great concept for this story, but if I'm being honest, the writing was terrible. The story felt very forced and drawn out for the majority of the book. And as if to make up for it, in the last 50 pages it was as if she tried to cram the rest of the story in. It was fast paced and overwhelming. Did not enjoy the "romance" element either. Wouldn't recommend reading it.

I loved the book. However, the romance between Ander and Eureka was somewhat unsettled. I hope the authors adds more depth of the couples feelings toward each other rather than leaving us with more questions.

The plot of this book is interesting enough; however, the author’s writing leaves something to be longed for. One criticism I have is that the romance between Eureka and Ander was definitely not developed to its extent. They were attracted to each other at the beginning, Eureka was mostly worried about his threats to her and the meaning of her inheritance during the middle of the novel, and they are suddenly falling into each other’s arms at the end of the book. I am certainly intrigued about the resolution of the whole Atlantis conflict, but not interested enough to go to the trouble of waiting, finding, borrowing, and reading the next two books in the series.

This is the first book in the exciting new Teardrop series. Ever since Eureka’s mother was killed in a freak accident, Eureka wishes that she too were dead. After a failed suicide attempt, things do not start to look up. Instead, they look more puzzling than ever. On her way to a track meet, Eureka meets mysterious Ander who rear-ends her car. Although she has never seen him before, Eureka could swear that something about him seems familiar. Add in a strange inheritance (a letter, a “Thunderstone,” and a book in a language no one understands) and Eureka could be on her way to finding out the truth behind her mother’s death.
