What a contrived pile of hooey. Silly and melodramatic. Shallow. Enough said.

The Korean version is more attractive than this version.

I'm still looking for the Korean version...
But this version still disturbing...I liked it, did not see the end until almost there.

Josh Brolin is very good.
Less violence than I thought, not "ultraviolence" as one reviewer said.

Great ending, really a different flick, you will dig it or run screaming from the room. See it, then rate it. Give it a chance, is what I'm saying...

This movie becomes a mess when it wanders out of its basic comic book format. As written, it takes a stab at real human issues and feelings. Splat.

Really found this to be a thought provoking and absorbing story, with a credible cast of characters. Your emotions are with the title character as he suffers his ordeal of being unjustly imprisoned for 20 years, while life goes on without him. You also revel in his quest for revenge and to find out the reason he was in fact confined for such a long time. At the conclusion when the answers are revealed, it's a shocking plot twist, that leaves the viewer dumbfounded. Yes the film has violence but as opposed to just centralizing this movie to merely the fact that people are killed and brutalized in almost intense fashion, pay in mind that there's an amount of thought as to the motivation of the central character's revenge filled quest. Of interest to those who may have seen the original Korean version. A standout performance by Josh Brolin.

Interesting story line, but way too much violence.

Not a terrible movie, but not nearly as good as the original Korean version. Skip this one and watch that one.

Joe: The one who called me doesn't know what happy means.
