Gaston is a sweet book about being yourself. There is a poodle who has 4 puppies. One is clearly not like the others, Gaston. He is bigger, slobbers, barks, and races. He tries hard to be like the others, but just isn't. Then, the poodle family goes to the park and meets a bulldog family and one of their puppies, Antoinette, id obviously a poodle. Gaston is obviously a bulldog. There has been a mixup! So they puppies switch. Antionette joins the poodles and Gaston joins the bulldogs. However, they still don't fit in. The next day they meet back at the park and Antoinette and Gaston happily go back to their own families. Being in their family "looked right and it felt right, too."

Cute story and the illustrations are simple and adorable. Another good book about being yourself.

Perfectly paced, adorably illustrated story about two puppies who were accidentally switched at birth! This one got me right in the feels.

Family is not all about looks, as these puppies find out in this adorable and wonderfully drawn tale about being yourself regardless of expectations. Absolutely delightful.

This is a modern day version of Margret Rey's "Spotty". It seems as though one of these "dogs" is not like the others. A great take on "being an individual" and "feeling different yet unique."

Female poodle pups Fi Fi, Foo Foo, and Ooh La La have a male bulldog brother named Gaston. Male bulldog pups Ricky, Rocky, and Bruno have a poodle sister named Antoinette. What the heck is going on? In this ugly duckling tale for the 21st century, the pups' moms try to switch the odd ones out into the "right" family, only to find things were just fine as they were. Brilliant and hilarious.

This is a fun read-aloud about families and acceptance of differences.

One of my all-time favorite storytime picks! A crowd-pleasing read-aloud, with a great message at the end.

In his poodle family, it's obvious Gaston is not like his sisters - Fi-Fi, Foo-Foo, and Ooh-La-La. And in the bulldog family, Antoinette is not like her brothers - Rocky, Ricky, and Bruno. When the two families meet at the park, it's unmistakable that a switch needs to occur...or perhaps not. Charming illustrations and a delightful story make this a fun read aloud for preschoolers.
