I am a huge fan of 1990's alternative rock Nirvana Soundgarden Pearl Jam Screaming Trees etc. when I first heard about Sonic Youth I learned that they are not a band for everyone since a lot of there music is a lot of guitar feedback and screaming, but they do have some songs that have some nice melodies and music. and Sonic Youth as a band is very underated . Kool Thing and Dirty Boots are there best known songs since there videos were played on MTV in the 1990's.Disappear and Bull In The Heather i remember from watching mtv in the late 1990's. .this is not a great selection of songs since some songs that i know from there albums like Dirty Boots are not on this best of,but for anyone wanting a sample of what Sonic Youth sounds like it is a good cd to start with!

You know what else if for squares? Putting out a compilation for Starbucks. I'm not sure who this 2008 album is for. "Curated" by various cool people, it's a sort of greatest hits for a band that never had a hit. Songs were chosen by people who make sense (Beck, Mike D.) and who don't really (Dave Eggers, Diablo Cody). Any self-respecting fan has all these songs and a newbie, well, they are likely a Starbucks costumer and are probably content with their Adele and Mumford and Sons. Still, there are a lot of great songs on here, including some of their masterpieces like "Teenage Riot," "Expressway to Yr Skull" (one of Neil Young's favorites) and "Kool Thing," as well as a Carpenters cover. But Starbucks??? C'mon!
