Imagine standing on a box in the middle of a busy city, dressed as a white-faced bride, and silently asking people for money. Or touring Europe in a punk cabaret band, and finding a place to sleep each night by reaching out to strangers on Twitter. For Amanda Palmer, actions like these have gone beyond satisfying her basic needs for food and shelter. They've taught her how to turn strangers into friends, build communities, and discover her own giving impulses.

This is probably a case where the audiobook is better than the written. Why? Because the Author is an artist and embellishes the story with songs from her own work.

The artistic life, told by an artist. Listening to Amanda Palmer read this is especially rewarding. The addition of some of her music helps, too. But at some point I intend to read the book. Then I can stop when I like, to think about what she wrote, go back and reread, look at the pictures, and get the whole experience reading provides. While she does talk about letting people help, I think the book's subtitle is a little misleading. To me, it was more about the creative life. I loved it.
