Add a CommentThis 5-part psychological thriller delivers an intense tale of grief, obsession and revenge.
The 5th part looks into the dark side and the secrets of the mother whose daughter was killed by a supposedly unrelated stranger.
Although it turns out a suspenseful entertaining thriller, the story appears gratuitously complicated, if not ill contrived, beyond believable reality.
After all, it seems like a thought-provoking murder mystery of a deliberately twisted sort.
Anyway, I enjoyed it to the hilt.
This miniseries may be Japan-specific. That is, those unfamiliar with Japanese culture or not avid J-movie fans may find several segments nonsensical, when they followed a Japanese cultural logic. That said, it is an excellent and entertaining miniseries with a tightly devised ending.
Usually stories that are innovative take awhile to open up, but this story is told within the first 5 minutes. However, the plot is expanded by different girls all dealing with several issues. It's quite long, but I couldn't help myself watching it all in one sitting. Highly recommend, the original novel by Kanae Minato is coming out soon. I'll definitely be reading it!
A great mini-series from Japan that deals with how a tragedy suffered in youth can have long reaching consequences.

The series is split into 5 episodes dedicated to each girl 15 years after the murder.
There are some disturbing characters, but I did find it interesting as I kept watching wanting to see what happens next.
