With his provocative question, 'why is the killing of a million a lesser crime than the killing of an individual?' Raphael Lemkin changed the course of history. An extraordinary testament to one man's perseverance, this examines the life and legacy of the Polish-Jewish lawyer and linguist who coined the term genocide.

Directed by Edet Belzberg, this 121-minute documentary depicts the global fight against mass ethnic killings, tracing Raphael Lemkin's legacy through the modern efforts of four currently active humanitarians.
Raphael Lemkin coined a word: genocide.
The word turned the massacres into official crimes and led to the creation of the International Criminal Court to prosecute war criminals.
The Office of the Prosecutor has opened ten official investigations and is also conducting an additional nine preliminary examinations.
Thus far, 39 individuals have been indicted in the ICC, including Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir, who is still at large although he is responsible for genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes in Darfur.
Apparently, some governments like the States are NOT really supporting ICC.
It is a profoundly thought-provoking documentary.
If you're a Pacifist, this is a must-see.

This documentary MUST be seen! It is extremely powerful but had me very sad at our world's history (both past and current) regarding genocide.

Extraordinary film making, anyone watching will surely learn something. My opinion of the UN took a bit of a jolt.

The film, for me, elicited two ideas – 1) That the type of genocide perpetrated during WWII against the Jews of Europe were almost unheard of in the history of the world and 2) The convictions of the Nazi’s was only possible because they killed people that were non-German citizens. So since 1947, Raphael Lemkin, Senor Ocampo and other men of good will have sought to make it a crime for a national leader to exterminate his own citizens based on race, ethnicity, or religion. If I understand correctly, even to this day, it is not a crime if the leader of a country decides to exterminate a group as long as they are not citizens of another country.

Very well put together documentary revolving around the efforts of Raphael Lemkin to hold nations & leaders accountable for genocide. It is also difficult to watch the film footage of the mass murders that have already happened and continue in present day ...
