Very good movie. Chris Hemsworth is much better in these types of roles than those he's played in the Marvel Universe.

At the focal center of Blackhat: event trading the commodities market. More precisely, fabricating an orchestrated event, tailor-made to produce instantaneous, massive profit. The online commentary regarding this movie has largely been, putting it charitably, two-bit fluff, either by cybercrime fantasists and/or those clueless about financial trading and the necessities of associated skulduggery. Nuclear catastrophe dominoes lined up … really? Good scriptwriting because the viewer has taken the bait laid out by this feint. Instead, at hand, cybercriminality of secondary import, and only as a means to an ulterior end, consequently requiring no bleeding edge hardware or idiot savant codebreakers. Sleight of hand and false flag exercises, that's CIA, NSA, PLA intel territory, with no need for authoring unbreakable ransomware or zero day exploits. That's what Michael Mann delves into, albeit in an over the top manner. Entertaining none the less.

"Blackhat" is not my kind of movie. I gave it half a star rating. I donated my copy to the library. I had bought it on sale cheap at Wallmart. The hero is a convicted of white collar criminal who is apparently the only person in the world who can solve a major cyber crime. He has to be freed from jail in order to solve the crime. If this cyber criminal can't solve the crime he will go back to prison. I found the plot to be a stretch. The so called cyber genius who was going to solve the world from nuclear melt down wasn't portrayed as any sort of a savant. I guess he was flowed so that the average viewer could believe that if a guy like this can do that than so can I.

An interesting cyber-thriller about a team on a mission to track down a hacker responsible for an nuclear plant explosion before he strikes again. My husband assured me that the computer-speak was not all just gibberish--much of the technology was realistic and plausibly-explained, which I appreciate even though I would not have known better.

Watchable thriller by Michael Mann. When it comes to cyber crime and how criminals actually manipulate things presented on screen I'm suspending belief of their cyber explanations. Lots of cyber gibberish to me. To me as long as it moves the action which it did. In Michael Mann's movies it's basic bad guys vs good guys with a showdown ending.

Terrible movie !!! I had a hard time believing that this was the same director who directed Heat and Collateral. The technical details were criminally wrong. even worse than swordfish . It seemed to be inspired by the malware attack on the Iranian Nuclear reactors , using USB keys and similar makes of PLC etc but on the whole , cheesy beyond belief.

At first I was not going to watch it but turned out it was OK,

Lien: I'm sorry for what happened to you.
Hathaway: Well, don't be. I'm not fishing for sympathy, here. I did the crime, I'm doing the time. Time isn't doing me.
Lien: What's that mean?
Hathaway: I do my own time, not the institution's. See, to hold on to who you are in there, you dedicate yourself to your program. You work out on your body and your mind.
