A look back at Bay Area dance halls and ballrooms of the 1940s through the memories of local residents who danced and romanced at such places as San Francisco's El Patio at Market and Van Ness and the Mural Room in the St. Francis Hotel; Sweet's Ballroom and the Ali Baba Ballroom in Oakland; and the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley. Filled with music, photos, archival films and dance sequences that recall the spirit of the age. Also included are seventeen minutes of bonus footage which present a lesson in basic swing dancing moves and an excerpt from an interview with dancer Frankie Manning detailing the invention of the "air step."
