African Americans, Hispanics and Mexican Americans and minorities are under-represented in the medical and science professions. One of the principal goals of the 18th Annual Symposium on Career Opportunities in Biomedical Sciences was to introduce this important segment of the society to the professional and educational opportunities in medicine and science. Biomedical scientists, researchers and other health professionals were invited to speak and meet with students who came from all across the country. Professionals in science are interviewed as well. Also in this video, students are interviewed about the science careers they are preparing for and what benefits they received from this event. The conference was sponsored by the Minority Health Professions Foundation and the Association of Minority Health Professions Schools. It was hosted by the Morehouse School of Medicine.
