If you enjoyed her Crossroads trilogy (Spirit Gate, Shadow Gate, & Traitor's Gate), you'll love this book. Some of the same characters are now 40 years older and the world of the Hundred has changed. The same multi-layered writing and plotting that is such a pleasure in her other books is present here. Strong, complex characters fill the book making it an intriguing read.

The ending was quite abrupt. Had to reread the last sentence before realizing that the book was indeed over. Hope the sequel comes out soon.

Other readers should also be aware the plot isn't straightforward but instead spirals back and forth between past and present, but if one is willing to read through it most of the mysteries do have answers of a sort.

What a refreshingly enjoyable read. My apologies to whoever had this book on hold while I was slowly reading it.

A very well written fiction. Great character and storyline development. This is the first in a new series and I am looking forward to the next volume.
