This is a beautiful and extremely believable movie.
Think you have it bad in over-priced Vancouver?
See what people who live in the slums of Rio have to deal with.

One of the better Brazilian films. The young men were very believable in there roles. The plot was intriguing in spite of some gaps in continuity...i.e. when Olivia gets arrested and then suddenly reappears in the film. However, it definitely holds ones' interest. I would like to see more of Selton Mello's work.

An entertaining film, but the story line was just too unbelievable. The portrayal of endemic corruption in Brazil seemed accurate enough, but unfortunately, the good guys never win there.

A technically brilliant movie in terms of cinematography and editing plus great Brazilian movie. Interesting plot with mostly good Brazilian actors, but you will recognize Martin Sheen and Mara Rooney. Highly recommend.

Don't expect a comedy. The dark moments far outnumber the light ones, but this film features a great story and good performances. I recommend it. I have not read the teen fiction book of the same title on which it was based. Trash is rated R for violence and language.

Simply an amazing well made movie that is thrilling from beginning to end. Very original story with a very good small part for Martin Sheen. He makes the most of it and you won't want to miss this terrific film!

This is a very thrilling action movie, portraying these little urchin-type boys living next to a giant trash mountain.

Subtitles were difficult to see & after the nearly 2hours my eyes felt very strained. Otherwise I loved it, definately recommend.

This movie helps us to understand the dichotomy that is Brazil. On one side, it is a vibrant country full of economic potential. One the other, it a class society with a strict and wide divide between the rich and poor, the powerful and disenfranchised, the entitled and those used and forgotten. Brazil has to close this gap to grow to its true potential.

Amazing action thriller when a trio of favela urchins, working Rio slums trash piles, decided to do the right thing against all odds: Brazil's Slumdog Millionaire with a deeper social message.

Julliard: Where there is corruption, injustice... Police violence... have to keep eyes closed and mouth and pray. Voilà .

Julliard: Can be very dangerous.
Olivia: For whom?
Julliard: For boys, for you, for all of us. After all, why continue?
Olivia: They said it was right.

-Like I always say... Never trust a policeman. Police treat poor people like trash. Everyone knows that.

-Christ, there are police everywhere.
-Deal with it.
-So, you're the boss now?
-There's no boss here. We've got to work together.
-Fine. I'll handle it.
-Where's he going?
-God know. He's your friend.
