When I looked at the bright, happy cover I assumed that this was a rom-com. However, it turned out to be a cheesy melodrama that forgot it was made in 2015. It used rom-com tropes but tried to take them seriously. For example, Jenny decides to come out to her parent's friends at a funeral and starts yelling about strap-ons. Played right, that scene could have been funny, but as it was it was just embarrassing. The movie was so cringey that I couldn't even finish it.

Don't know why this is listed as a comedy: it's about family relationships, and fairly poignant.

Good movie. shows what Gay people have to go through in life. Most Gay people in relationships i am sure have been through this struggle to be accepted by your parents, family, friends. sometimes one partner's family accepts you and the other partner's family does not. I am happy now that the younger and present generation of Gay people do not have to hide in the closet as much as gay people did in the past.

Sweet, funny, sad, and maddening. Plenty of emotional catharsis here! After five years of hiding her lesbian lover as her roommate and creating fictional boyfriends who never last long enough to meet her parents, Jenny just blurts out one day that she is getting married to a woman because she is gay. Great freeing moment for her, but she has had years to prepare for that moment but her parents are shell shocked. Repairing the rift is the focus of the movie. This is a love story, but much more about family love than lesbian lovers.

Good movie.
Comparison between ending a marriage and telling your family you are gay?
The result: who your true friends are and who sticks around to support your decision.
Very good ending but in real life does that really happen?
