The Unfinished World is a collection of solidly-written speculative short stories. Many of them will leave you deep in though, some because of disturbing notions such as, daughters who hunt reverse werewolves, and, a family of murderous scammers told from the point of view of a young child. Sparks' imagination has breadth, so for those who enjoy the more literary type of speculative fiction, there should be a story or two for you to enjoy.

This book is what would happen if Ursula Le Guin and Karen Russell had a glorious, beautiful book baby. Sparks' prose is piscean, otherworldly and heartbreaking. This is short speculative fiction at its best. Not to be missed.
