An album that you can hate on the first listen, but when it clicks, every song seems genius. This album deviates far from Bon Iver's previous records, and also deviates from anything you've ever heard before. It has hints of nostalgia and familiarity, but when examined more closely, it is undeniably novel and hard to categorize.
Unlistenable garbage. Apparently, this album was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Alternative Music category. It was certainly alternative to good.
Wonderful, unexpected. Deserves many listenings.
Richly textured and multi-layered, Bon Iver's "22, A Million" rewards re-listens. File it under "great records for long drives and cold winter mornings."
