When sixteen-year-old Jess Tennant's mother takes her to spend the summer in the tiny English town where she grew up, people look at Jess as if they have seen a ghost due to her resemblance to her cousin Freya, who died shortly before Jess arrived and to whom Jess feels a strange connection.
This book isn't one of my favorites as far as storyline goes, but the voice given to the main character is pretty unique and refreshing. Jess is a strong character with a clear view of her role as a female in social and societal norms and she bucks them regularly in an honest way. I really enjoy seeing characters like this is YA literature.
