This is a pretentious movies , but is supposed to be. It's about fashion industry and models . So basically pretty people doing weird stuff is good time on my book.

I managed to watch the whole movie, but it did feel like I lost 2 hours of my life without any satisfaction with this movie. Very forgettable movie, filled with bright lights and music but a waste of time..

I wish as much effort was put into the story as there was with the cinematography. The imagery was brilliant, but the film ultimately comes off as pretentious and completely misses the mark. The whole film feels very forced instead of natural. Even great actors couldn't save this film.

I really dislike this movie and I don't like movies that have these hidden messages that your suppose to understand and strain your brain over. I really was sitting there figuring out more of why I kept watching this movie which did not make sense to me at all. The acting to me was very robotic and dialog was just had to really follow maybe I am the only one who felt this way but I really waste time I can't get back from watching this movie.

Overrated, boring did lots of fast forwards. My library wasted money on this boondoggle.
Never finished. Too many dark scenes.

It's hard to know what to do with this well-photographed but slightly half-baked art piece about jealousy and vengeance in the modeling world. The secret to enjoying it is to let go of some of your expectations and just enjoy the colors and the stark splendor of the ride.

The Neon Demon is a dark & surreal foray into a world of sin. It is all about the fashion & modelling industry and the depraved depths that women can sink to when competing against each other. A very surreal and tense film about the horrors of sin, but from a uniquely female perspective. It is also very visually vibrant and artsy with an astounding soundtrack!

If you are curious about just how cruel women can be each to other, then watch this movie.

If you want to understand how average women respond to women who are more beautiful than them, watch this movie. It may be classed as fiction but, for beautiful women throughout history, it's a true story.

One of the strangest movies I've ever seen - and I'm okay with that!

Going into this film, I didn't truly know what to expect. All I knew was that the promotional images really captured my attention, due to the pretty colors, with up-and-coming actress, Elle Fanning in the center. It's some kind of horror (I read the sex/nudity descriptions in the parental guidance section on IMDb prior to viewing) that has very mixed reviews.

Much of the the first two acts are relatively slow and realistic. It's got great visuals, despite two scenes with annoying flashing lights. The trip-hop soundtrack by Cliff Martinez is also ear-catching. But, boy, was I not expecting that final act! Turns out there's a decent amount of foreshadowing leading up to it. As the track titled, "Are We Having a Party" played over, my eyes were widened as I realized what had happened to Jesse (Fanning). In spite of its disturbing aspects (notably, a scene involving necrophilia), I ended up really liking The Neon Demon. I appreciate how it chose to make audiences uncomfortable rather than the usual "lesbianism is hot~" excuse (see: Birdman). There are critics who hate and/or have called this misogynistic, and I can completely understand why; but that doesn't wane my enjoyment of it.

On the official movie discussion on Reddit, users have called this "David Lynch meets Black Swan," which I also happen to agree with.

It was great to see Abbey Kershaw on-screen again after her debut in Mad Max: Fury Road - also kind of funny her playing an aspiring model, considering she already works as one in real-life; can't wait to see what else she and Fanning have to offer in the future!

Learning that the director, Nicholas Refn, was born colorblind is very surprising, since his movies are so awashed with vivid colors.

Slow-paced and pretentious, I was hoping for a turn for the better in the story line but it never came. A disappointing watch.

Most of the interesting quotes are in IMDb:

Here are a few more about the teen model not in IMDb yet:

When did you graduate from high school?
-I'm actually still kind of working on it.
I need a parental consent form. ... Just one signature there for parental consent. One little signature and we're off. When someone asks, I want you to say you are 19. Always 19. Eighteen is too on the nose. No one's going to believe that.
In Georgia, the sky is also this big. Makes being a person down on earth feel really small.
Oh, don't worry, honey. That whole deer-in-the-headlights thing is exactly what they want.
