The Birds is doubt, but It is enduring in any ways. For one,it has an eerie quality about what is going and why that has never been answered. Yet the story is well enough told that what and why is secondary to all the strange happenings and why all these birds descend on innocent members of a small seaside community.
The banter between Tippie Hendren and Robert Taylor is fun and well played and reminiscent of male, female relationships of the time.

This is a 1963 American horror-thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, loosely based on the 1952 story of the same name by Daphne du Maurier.
It depicts a series of sudden and unexplained violent bird attacks on the people of Bodega Bay, California over the course of a few days.
Evan Hunter, a screenwriter, developed new characters and a more elaborate plot while keeping the storyline and concept of unexplained bird attacks.
Superb, chilling, amazing, fascinating and unique are the special effects shots of the attacking birds.
It is one of the best animal horror movies.

Few films depict so eerily yet so meticulously the metaphysical and historical sense of a world out of joint.

One of Hitchcock's best.

I got four words to this "horror" film; passenger pigeons meet guns

Well, darlings - For early-1960's horror it's OK - But I heard that a lot of the birds used in this film were actually hurt in various ways. Tsk. Tsk. No animal protection available for these defenceless creatures.

An excellent suspense film from Alfred Hitchcock- this is one of my personal favorites of Hitch.

OK. Here's the sound of the birds in The Birds... Caw! Caw! Caw!... Tweet! Tweet! Tweet!... Cackle! Cackle! Cackle!... Chirp! Chirp! Chirp!... Squawk! Squawk! Squawk! (Ad nauseum)

Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, The Birds was the film that followed next after Psycho. And, when it came to the element of horror, I think this film was clearly a giant step down the ladder.

This film's preposterous story about common birds, like crows, seagulls and finches, flocking together and deliberately attacking the residents in the town of Bodega Bay (with the intent to kill them) made no sense at all.

And the focus on the hot/cold relationship that got underway between Mitch and Melanie only served to turn the whole story into a sappy, second-rate soap opera. It really did.

Loved it. Alfred Hitchcock makes the best movies. This movie was great. The special effects were very good.:)

My wanting it to make some sense logically (which it never did) detracted from the overall film watching experience.

I rather enjoyed seeing Suzanne Pleshette, Tippi Hedren, and Rod Taylor - great acting.
