This is a beautiful film.

Ed Norton looked like he was wearing too much pancake makeup or else he's had some nic- and-tuck's. He had a shallow part, plus, I didn't care about his character or plight. Same goes for Will Smith and the other actors who dropped in to read lines. The movie began as 'disconnected' hoping to reconnect but I didn't care one way or the other, just wanted it over. Sorry, Hollywood has had enough time to make every movie great so these mediocre scripts, plots, film footage should be one great film after the other instead of one boring, shallow, no point at all movies.

I'm always suspicious of star-studded films as they often make up for what they lack in script with personality. This movie was actually well written and conceived. It explores the difficult subject of losing a child with sensitivity. There are several surprising and clever plot twists near the end that bring a satisfying closure to the healing trajectories of the main characters. It's a tear jerker.

Felt really nice to watch this a second time. Was not boring, pacing was great, and third act had a great payoff and brought tears to my eyes.

I became interested in watching this movie after seeing a preview for it on another DVD I had borrowed. This piqued my interest, seeing the 3 people portraying nonphysical entities. We saw that the Will Smith character was depressed, but didn't know exactly why.

The movie itself seemed to start off quite slow, but it did show us the before and after of "Howard's" emotions after the major event in his life, which we eventually learn about in flashbacks and such. Each of the main characters had issues which needed resolving or at least being able to live with in a positive manner. The ending did totally surprise me - I didn't see it coming at all. Brought a tear or two to my eyes which doesn't happen easily. Will Smith did a great job here, proving he can do more than just comedy or action flicks. Well worth the 90+ minutes of time to watch!

One of Will Smith's better movies. I believe Will did an excellent job in acting the part of a depressed father who is barely keeping his mind together never mind his life because of the death of his daughter. His good nature also affects Will to come to terms with his daughter being gone. The part I did not like was the ending when the movie hinted that the three people where actually angels and not just actors and actresses.

A new Will Smith movie? Why haven't I heard of it? -- you may be thinking. For good reason, believe me. Some have compared it to It's a Wonderful Life, if it had a confusing, poorly written and painfully contrived story. There is a "twist" near the end that will make you roll your eyes, and another one earlier on that will make you go "huh?" Smith's charisma doesn't carry it through, either. His character is dull and deadened from beginning to end. However, there is a star-studded cast, who I am convinced lost a bar bet.

A great cast and a great story. Well written and had me in tears and this film lingered long after watching it. Touching story of how people are affected by a death of a loved one.
The extras had some value with interviews of the director/writer, and cast members talking about what it was like working together and on this film.
Although a tough subject to make a film about, it did so well, by mixing some lightness along with the darkness, around Christmas time in New York.

I was disappointed. Didn't work for me; too contrived.

Plenty of quotes at IMBd except this one near opening of film:

Advertising is about illuminating how our products and services will improve people's lives. Now, how do we do that? Love. Time. Death. Now these three abstractions
connect every single human being on Earth. Everything that we covet, everything that we fear not having, everything that we ultimately end up buying is because at the end of the day we long for love, we wish we had more time, and we fear death.
Best quote:
Howard: I've heard all of your platitudes. I got them, I know. "She's in a better place." And, "This is all a part of a master plan." Heard that one, too. Here's my favorite. "God looked down and saw the most beautiful rose, so beautiful that he picked it to have it in Heaven all for Himself." Then there's the science, biocentrism, and we're all living and dying in infinite universes all at the same time. And then the religion, ...
