We know dogs are our best animal friends, but have you ever thought about what that might mean?Combining history, paleontology, biology, and cutting-edge medical science, Kay Frydenborg paints a picture of how two different species became deeply entwined--and how we coevolved into the species we are today.

This book if a book of theories of how the dog evolved along with man. Interesting reading although the author belabors her favorite theory. I fault the publisher by the composition of the book. You are reading along and in mid sentence the publisher inserts a topic consisting of 3 to 5 pages before finishing the sentence. Example being of sentence at the bottom of page 31, then on page 32 is the insert of "Before Darwin" to page 36, then the sentence is completed on page 37. It is very confusing and shocking at first when it doesn't make sense. This is done several times throughout the book. The inserts are helpful as a sideline, just their placement is off. I tend to favor the less talked about theory of dog evolution; but did find the research of other theories interesting. As a dog owner, I now tend to look at the dog differently than I did before as I process ideas from the research.
