Yes, it is a surprisingly happy ending for a homosexual story printed after E. M. Forester's death. Great acting-even by Hugh Grant. Merchant-Ivory again create the past: Edwardian era at Cambridge.

Great story! The movie makes me want to read the book. I was pleasantly surprise by the cast and their great roles. It was great to see a period piece where gay characters love each other and want to be happy!

Homosexual movie.

Worthwhile viewing from Merchant/Ivory. This classic gay love story by E.M.Forster about an upper-crust master and a game-runner actually has a happy ending. Watch Hugh Grant portray a closet homosexual: what a stretch. See Rupert Graves' bush and tush. Quite a stretch.
