An extremely fun read, with gorgeous art and exciting characters. Reading this really felt like going on an adventure with the twins, homesickness and desire for answers alike. The story starts off with just two main characters, and you grow to love them (as well as the side characters) as the story progresses.

Larson's writing and Mock's art go hand-in-hand to be the best possible combination to tell this story. Art-wise, your eyes will get to dance with a beautiful set of colour schemes and vibrant characters. Writing-wise, you will be taken along a story that wonderfully paced with strong and believable character voices. I feel attached to all of them.

I honestly couldn't put this book down! I love the library because I get to read books for free, but I honestly had to buy my own copy of this one because I love it so much.

Pirates, treasure maps, and kidnapping – these are only some of the exciting elements that await inside this historical graphic novel. Travel along with twelve-year-old twins Alexander and Cleopatra as they make their way to San Francisco, escaping a vengeful gang and encountering battles on the high seas and adventures in the jungle along the way. The first in a new series, this fast-paced, high-energy adventure will draw in even the most reluctant reader.

It was awsome, Hope made a great story of a "brotherly-sisterhood", and the drawing was... I'm envious

This upper elementary and early middle school adventure story will hit the spot with reluctant readers!

Orphaned red-headed twins (two sets!) are racing across the country trying to answer the ad of a rich man in San Francisco whose own red-headed twins are missing. One set races to swindle him out of his money, and one set to find a family. Pirates, gangs, stowaways, treasure maps, jungles, sailing ships and a hint of romance combine in the 1860's. Some great accurate historical touches, vibrant characters and a galloping pace make this an excellent read.

Finally a good story graphic novel! Rich in laying the foundation for the characters. Even though sparce in detail, it is easy to define the relationships and the impact the world has on them. Adventure, mysterious, identity, family dynamics, romance even pirates this book covers it all without it becoming overly complicated. A good bridge for ones looking for more story without having to read a 300+ novel. First in a series but complete in its own right. Target audience: boys, reluctant readers, early readers.
