I love a book that takes place in the world of art, so I started reading with high expectation. Ives has written an intricate tale woven with mystery and intelligence. Intelligence to the point of me keeping a list of interesting phrases like - delectation of pork, imaginary conurbation, averred, care of the ouroboros, tautalogical tendency, intaglio item............Adding to the list kept me reading. I did enjoy the story but it was missing something akin to baking cookies but forgetting the butter.
