Excellent writing! Anita can tell a story without adding many significant details, but leaving it instead up to the reader to figure out what happened. Good to the last paragraph!

I love this booK! It is very well written and the subject matter is very interesting. I feel that it is more of a "chick" book, but nothing wrong with that! I would recommend this read!

I hated this book. I was very annoyed that the other woman was in the know and the poor wife was blindsided. I felt like the pilot got what he deserved, wish the other woman had been with him.

I missed this when it first came out in the 90's so when I came across it in a review I was reading for something else, I was happy to find it was still available. Anita Shreve never disappoints.

This book was ok. I felt like the pacing was uneven and ended with a race through the plot to the finish. It also ended quite abruptly.

Anita Sherve seems to have a golden touch with her books. Each one is better then the previous story. emotional , sad, and devastating.

A pilot's wife is taught to be prepared for the late-night knock at the door. But when Kathryn Lyons receives word that a plan flown by her husband, Jack, has exploded near the coast of Ireland, she confronts the unfathomable-one startling revelation at a time. Soon drawn into a maelstrom of publicity fueled by rumors that Jack led a secret life, Kathryn sets out to learn who her husband really was, whatever that knowledge might cost. Her search propels this taut, impassioned novel as it movingly explores the question, How well can we ever really know another person?
