Fantastic movie. I Love CATS. Plus I am a cat owner myself.

Bit eyeglazing in some aspects. Do watch some of the Bonus Material first-I wanted to know about the cast, the set, the characters and esp. the dancing! Then proceed to watch the movie.

You will either love T.S. Eliot or someone on the cast to want to watch this movie. I gave up near the end of the Daylight song near the ending. But I rewatched the dance practices...

Judi Dench and James Corden were my reasons for wanting to watch the film!

“A cat is not a dog”

I enjoyed the broadway musical stage play but this movie adaptation is Just scary .... it’s a horror film.

And what’s with this sexual innuendos in their movements? Awful

This movie even managed to make Taylor Swift creepy-looking.

Well I gave it a 1/2 star so that people would realize DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! This was a huge disappointment...HUGE! I saw the play when it first appeared in Toronto in 1985 and didn't like the play at all...I don't like CATS and didn't realize that is what it was about...yes I know, the joke is on me. Well, all these years later I thought I'd watch the dvd and see what everyone loved about this play that I didn't get. DIDN'T HAPPEN and never will. A total waste of time...total. I did leave it on, in the background, while doing other things just to see and hear if it ever improved but did not happen. How disappointing for all of those involved with this production. A true groaner.

I really think how the actors dress up as cats works a lot better for a stage production than a movie. They kinda looked like monkeys and it was pretty strange. Overall, a very loose plot with lots of songs.

"Overall, I didn’t like this movie lol. I remember when it first started, I couldn’t look away but not in a good way. There is stuff to like, I didn’t hate it but there’s too much I didn’t like to overshadow what I did like. The dancing is probably the best thing about the movie." Don't judge a musical by its movie.
Several songs were very abridged or edited, which sometimes took away their impact, some scenes removed entirely to fit the plotline the filmmakers decided on for their adaptation, and a couple of unnecessary backstory-bits were invented that might annoy fans of the original. That said, I thought it was cute how they played Mistoffoles (though it completely changed and somewhat diminished the tone of his song), and there were some good performances: Ian McKellen's song was touching, especially considering his theatre background, the two comedians were entertaining in their parts, and Taylor Swift's song was the best-adapted.
This film is definitely not for everyone, and I would 100% recommend the stage version over this, but it is a spectacle, if that's what you're in the mood for.
