I have read a couple of Patterson's other novels; " Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas, and " Sundays at Tiffany". I love his writing, and this book did not dissapoint. It was a totally different book for me, because I have not read a murder mystery in several years. I just had not found one that peaked my interest. Stephen King is a little too Sadistic as well as a few others for my taste. Even though the novel was graphic, and at times difficult to get through, Patterson's ability to write so fluidly kept my curiosity for the entire book. I am sure that there are serial killers that have similar characteristics to Henri Benoit (the assassin in this case) and the way that he chooses to look at death. No one would hope that anyone's life would end in the malicious manner that some of the character's in the novel does. It keeps the reader on edge, and we want that happy ending, when justice is served. James Patterson does not exclude or leave out anything, and closure in a book of this genre is important to the reader. I was pleasantly surprised with my reactions to the novel. I anticipated an on edge, nail biting experience. I am not one to read a book in labeled in this genre, but maybe I have broken out of my shell a little bit.
