This was one of the first books I ever read with LGBT+ representation. I try and reread it every once in a while, just because of the impact it had on me as a younger person. The reader follows a girl who is unexpectedly and tragically orphaned, and her journey of coming into her sexuality. There’s a definite trigger warning for suicide and conversion therapy, so it’s good to know that before going in. There’s also a movie adaptation that is pretty good, but read the book first! It really has an impact on the reader, and you’ll be thinking about it for a while after you put it down.
