Filmed in b&w - 1944's "Since You Went Away" is now the second WW2 picture I've recently seen whose story was being told from the perspective of those who were experiencing all of the drama from the "home-front".

This 3-hour production (That's right! - 3 hours) was clearly a "Chick Flick" that was not only packed solid with oodles of sentimentality, but it also featured plenty of serious flag-waving (thrown into the mix for good measure), as well.

This $2.5 million "MGM" presentation tells its wartime melodramatics through the teary eyes of single mother, Anne Hilton, and her 2 teenage daughters, Jane and Brig (played by Jennifer Jones and Shirley Temple).
